In keeping with our commitment to provide quality medical care, maintain standards of efficiency and convenience for our customers, avoid any possible prescription abuses, and abide by all applicable laws and regulations, the Be Well Medical Center has established and maintains the following policies concerning prescription refills:
All prescription refill requests should originate with the patient, who will contact their pharmacist to ask that the pharmacist send a refill request to Be Well electronically.
Refill requests received Monday through Friday should be approved or disapproved by Be Well in 24 hours or less. However, non-emergency refill requests might not be approved or filled during the weekend, so patients should plan ahead accordingly. If Be Well disapproves a refill request, the reason should be provided electronically through the RxNT electronic health records system.
Unless specified otherwise by the Be Well healthcare provider, all chronic, non-controlled medications may be refilled five times. Patients should have been seen by their provider within the previous six months before any refill. One exception refill may be given as a courtesy, as long as it is for no more than 30 days of the medication, the patient understands that they need to be seen by their provider before another refill will be approved, and the patient is so informed via a written comment on the courtesy refill.
All controlled pain medications are to be prescribed for a maximum of 30 days, with a maximum of one refill for up to an additional 30 days. Beyond this period of 60 days, patients must see and be reevaluated by their provider before being prescribed any additional controlled pain medication. No exceptions to this policy are permitted.
Patients being treated specifically with attention deficit disorder medication or with Schedule 2 pain medication may be approved for a refill of up to 30 days of their medication if they have been seen within the previous 30 days by their provider and are stabilized on a satisfactory dosage.
